Mission News Letter
Dear Missions Mobilizers, Pastors and WMI Officers,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Many changes occur when an old year passes and a new one begins. Free Methodist World Missions has a few changes of which all of us need to be informed.
This year, missionary funding procedures change. Our missionaries, the Ken & Letty Myers family, needed their 2008 support committed by the end of the passing year 2007. On behalf of The Myers family we extend a sincere thank you to the eight churches within the New England Conference, and our conference WMI, that made 2008 commitments. We trust that those who’ve not yet made financial commitments will still support our missionaries.
Let us remind you that when you send your financial commitment for Ken and Letty Myers through NEC WMI Treasurer Susan Wilson to please be certain you designate the funds for Ken and Letty Myers.Undesignated funds will bypass the Myers family and go into a general fund.
Feel free to contact Ken and Letty. You may e-mail them at: klmyers@gmail.com They would love to hear from you!
Also changing in 2008 is our FMWM theme. Promotional packets, “Hands for the Harvest…Serving the World”, have been sent to each church within the New England Conference. Multiple resources are given to help you promote world missions within your church. Please utilize this material in ways that best suit your needs. Let’s take to heart the words of Jesus Christ. “What a huge harvest’ he said to his disciples, ‘How few workers, on your knees and pray for harvest hands” (Matthew 9:34-38 The Message).
FM World Missions leadership has some changes for this year. Kevin Jordahl will become World Missions Director of Development beginning January 2. Kevin has been working as a Regional Vice President for the FM Foundation for the last three years. Warren Hawkins will relocate to Michigan, but continue at World Missions until the end of January.
Rev. Michael Reynen has accepted the position of African Area Director and will begin his duties in late 2008. Most recently Mike served as senior pastor at John Wesley FMC, Indianapolis, IN. Vickie Reynen has been working in the FMWM home office in SEED and VISA Ministries and will return to working in International Child Care Ministries. The Reynen family previously served as missionaries in Nigeria for ten years.
Please pray for these families as they begin their new ministries.
Experiencing changes a new year brings may help us mature in our faith and confidence in Jesus Christ. Let’s allow God to work these changes that take place in our lives into something good for His Eternal Kingdom.
In His hands,
Alan and Barbara Witter (NEC WMI VP Global Missions)
